Phuket Annual Events
Phuket is one of the most popular resort destinations not just in Thailand but the entire world. That’s why it is no longer a surprise that a lot of people go to the island throughout the year. The good news is that there is always something going on in Phuket no matter what time of the year you visit the island paradise.
New Year’s Day
There’s no better way to start the year than to party at the beach. The New Year’s Eve celebration in Phuket is something that you should experience at least once in your lifetime. And the 2015 celebration is one of the most creative events. The highlight of the event is the fireworks from most beaches of the island. The whole town was in a party atmosphere. And aside from fireworks, there was a non-stop stream of Chinese lanterns floating across the sky.
Phuket Old Town Festival
Just a month after New Year’s Day celebrations in Phuket, the island is set to celebrate the Phuket Old Town Festival. While it might be one of the newer festivals in the calendar, there’s no denying that it is one of the most creative events of 2015.The celebrations took place February 26 to 28 and held in the historic center of the Old Town. There are lots of activities during the event that include Phuket Baba Light Show, the performance of Chinese folk dancing troupes, and cultural parades. And a festival is incomplete without food. There are stalls selling traditional Thai street food everywhere. The Phuket Old Town Festival combines traditional with modern celebrations.
And a list of creative events of 2015 is incomplete without the mention of the Phuket Pride, which is considered as the largest LGBT event in Thailand. It is a week-long event that gets bigger each year. In 2015, it took place from April 19 to 26.There were several venues across the island paradise where the celebrations and activities were held. Some of the activities include pool competition, a volleyball tournament, Grand Charity Auction, Grand Parade, parties where everyone is welcome.
Before the year ends, Phuket holds an event that is awaited by locals and visitors alike each year. And in 2015, the Patong Carnival was combined with the yearly Patong Seafood Festival, which why it is part of the list of most creative events of 2015. It took place from November 1 to 3 and held in various venues in Phuket. People got to choose among three zones, which were the Entertainment Zone, Global Tastes Seafood Zone, and the Bangla Rd Zone. Each of the zones featured different activities and attractions.
